Football added a 6th division in 2012. Football is one of the few sports where the majority of Private schools do not compete against the smallest public schools. Only 5 private schools compete in division A and 3 in division AA. The 12 Private Schools that compete in the 3A and 4A divisions win almost half of the championships.
Smaller public schools are grossly underrepresented in volleyball championships. Private schools have had great success in Class A.
Boys Soccer has added a third division beginning in 2021. However, only one private school moved into the largest division. Private schools have had great success in class A soccer, winning 1.9 times as much as expected in that class.. Only 1 private school competed in class AA soccer prior to 2021, and the remaining 54 private schools competed in class A.
Girls Soccer also added a third division beginning in 2021. Like the boys, only one private school moved into the largest division. Private schools have had great success in class A soccer, winning 1.2 times as much as expected in that class.. Only 1 private school competed in class AA soccer prior to 2021, and the remaining 47 private schools competed in class A.
No private schools compete outside of class A in girls swimming and diving. Private schools win 5.5 times as much as would be expected in class A.
Private schools won every class A girls tennis title between 2006-2019. That is 3.6 times as often as expected. In class AA, only 8/137 schools competing are private.
